ATPL question bank: what the ATPL papers ask, and how to practise them

The ATPL papers cover the same subjects as the CPL ones, examined at a higher standard, plus the aircraft you fly. Below: what DGCA sets for the ATPL, and which of our banks carry over today.

What the licence itself demands

Nobody sits an ATPL paper first. You arrive having cleared the CPL papers and flown for years since, so the work is rebuilding your method to a higher standard.

Where the internet gets it wrong

Is there an official DGCA ATPL question bank?

No. DGCA issues none, and the examination requirement forbids copying question papers. What exists anywhere is questions written to the published syllabus.

How many attempts do I get at an ATPL paper?

No cap is published. The constraint is the five-year validity of a pass. An oral is different: three attempts within two years, then the theory paper comes back.

What may I carry into the paper?

It differs by subject: a navigation computer and a scientific calculator without multiple memories for Air Navigation, a calculator alone for Radio Aids, nothing for Meteorology.
