DGCA Computer Number: how to get one
The Computer Number is your lifetime candidate ID for DGCA's theory exams. You can't book a paper without it, so apply before you plan a session. It's free, on Pariksha at pariksha.dgca.gov.in. If your Class 10 and Class 12 records are in DigiLocker, you get it the moment you submit. If not, DGCA issues it within 12 working days.
What documents do I need?
- Your Class 10 certificate. The portal checks your name and date of birth against it.
- Class 10 and Class 12 records in DigiLocker, or, if your board's records aren't there, a Board Verification Certificate (BVC) for each.
- An Indian mobile number and an email address. Each gets a one time password.
- A scan of the photo ID you'll carry to the exam centre.
How do I apply for a Computer Number?
- 1Open New Candidate Registration
on pariksha.dgca.gov.in, under Flight Crew.
- 2Copy your Class 10 certificate exactly.
Small differences send the application back: a dropped middle name, an expanded initial, or a surname spelled the way people say it rather than the way it's printed.
- 3Verify both one time passwords.
The mobile one goes only to an Indian number. Students training abroad report getting stuck at this step. Use an email address you'll keep for years.
- 4Submit.
Without DigiLocker records, upload a BVC for each certificate. Don't post anything: DGCA stopped taking hard copies on 14 October 2024.
- 5Sign in with P followed by your Computer Number.
If you can't sign in, check the P first.
- 6Apply for a paper when a session opens.
Each session notice gives its own dates; the notices for the last sessions of 2026 kept applications open for five to seven weeks. On-demand seats are first come, first served, so apply for those early. You pay per paper through Bharatkosh, inside the portal.
How long does it take to get one?
Instant through DigiLocker, or up to 12 working days. CBSE came first, in October 2025. DGCA has since extended it to every board whose records are in DigiLocker. If you're on the BVC route, apply at least 12 working days before the window you want.
Can NIOS or state board students get one?
Yes. Your board only decides the route: DigiLocker if its records are there, the BVC upload if not.
Is it the same as eGCA?
No. Pariksha holds your Computer Number, bookings, admit cards and results. eGCA handles your licence. They're separate accounts.
Why was my application rejected?
Usually a mismatch with your Class 10 certificate. Pariksha's front page links a page called Reasons For Computer Number Rejection; check it before you apply again. If part of an application is rejected, you get up to three chances to correct it.
