To convert arc to time, take the longitude difference in degrees and multiply by four to get minutes, since the Earth turns fifteen degrees of longitude every hour, so one degree equals four minutes of time. Apply the sign convention: east of Greenwich the local clock runs ahead, west of Greenwich it runs behind. Carry the correction through Greenwich mean time, watch for a date change when the result crosses midnight, and round only at the final step so no intermediate error accumulates through the working.
