Flight Planning and Monitoring - Aero Planes: DGCA Air Navigation questions
Planning turns a route, a wind and a fuel load into numbers, and monitoring checks them in flight. The ICAO flight plan form is the other half, and each of its items has code letters the paper asks for exactly.
The numericals among the 39 questions cover wind correction angle and groundspeed, heading conversions, wind components, maximum fuel load and climb distance in wind. Exam sessions have put 14 of these planning items in front of candidates.
Item 13 takes the estimated off-block time, not the take-off time. In item 8, Y means IFR first and Z means VFR first. For wind components, crosswind uses the sine of the angle off the runway and headwind the cosine.
