Measurement of DR Elements Pressure: DGCA Air Navigation questions
An altitude means little without the atmosphere behind it. Every correction here is measured from the ISA, which starts at 1013.25 hPa and 15 degrees C at mean sea level and cools by roughly 2 degrees C for each 1,000 ft of height.
Numericals fill most of the 52 questions: true altitude from outside air temperature, QNH and QFE between two airfields, terrain clearance at 30 ft per hPa, density altitude, and a run of ILS glide path heights. Exam sessions have set 7 of them.
Work the ISA deviation at the pressure altitude, not at sea level. Watch the sign: a QNH above 1013 hPa puts pressure altitude below elevation. In air colder than standard you are lower than the altimeter shows.
