SATCOM, SELCAL & Data Link: DGCA Radio Telephony (R/T) questions
Remote and oceanic flying uses systems that spare the crew a constant listening watch or replace voice with text. SELCAL, selective calling, lets a ground station alert one aircraft with a tone code. CPDLC, controller pilot data link communications, carries ATC messages as text, while ACARS mostly carries airline operational traffic. In the written paper they appear as definitions.
