CPL course fees in India

Licence only, no type rating, school by school. The government academies, the state clubs and the private schools, each with the label that says whether the school published the number or somebody else did.

A CPL at an Indian flying school is the self-funded route, and this page lists what each school we have checked charges for it, with no type rating included.

How far you can trust each number on this page

Published
Printed on the operator's or the regulator's own page.
Reported
From a brochure, an aggregator or a cadet, not from the operator's own price list.
Estimated
A range built up from parts, not lifted whole from any one source.
Undisclosed
No public number exists. We say so rather than filling the gap.

The market envelope

Before any individual school, know the shape of the market, because it is what tells you whether a quote in front of you is normal. A commercial licence at an Indian flying school, around 200 hours with instrument and multi-engine work and no type rating, clusters at ₹45 lakh to ₹55 lakhReported. The full band runs from about ₹35 lakhReported to about ₹70 lakhReported.

The familiar higher band you see quoted almost everywhere is the cadet and premium tail, and it usually has a type rating folded into it. It is not the typical sticker for a licence.

Government academies and state flying clubs

The government and state endLicence only, and every one of these excludes the type rating and most living costs.
SchoolLicence feeWhat the figure is
Haryana Institute of Civil Aviation, on the Cessna 152₹19,67,000ReportedThe cheapest credible state route in our data, driven by the lowest official hourly rate we found.
Haryana Institute of Civil Aviation, on the Cessna 172R₹21,67,000ReportedThe same institute on the heavier aircraft.
Telangana State Aviation Academy₹26,35,500ReportedMid-band among the state routes.
Madhya Pradesh Flying Club₹42,15,500PublishedPublished on the club's own document, which makes it one of the few state figures you can check directly.
Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi₹55,00,000PublishedThe current published fee on a government site. Aggregators still quote a much older figure for it, which is stale.

Transcribed from our verified cost reference, checked 15 June 2026.

Private flying schools

The private endFive of these six figures come from aggregators rather than the school. That is the normal state of this market, not an oversight of ours.
SchoolLicence feeWhat the figure is
Chimes Aviation Academy, Dhana₹37,75,000ReportedThe standalone licence course. Do not confuse it with the academy's cadet programme, which is a different and much larger number.
CAE at NFTI Gondia, integrated licence₹42,00,000 plus taxPublishedPublished, with the tax quoted as applicable rather than as an amount. Accommodation and meals are excluded.
Asia Pacific Flight Training, Hyderabad₹42,85,000ReportedFrom listing sites rather than the academy's own page, and anchored to an earlier intake; a later projection runs higher.
Redbird Flight Training Academy, New Delhi₹45,31,000ReportedNo price on Redbird's own site. A second Redbird total circulates from a different tier, and we do not average the two.
The Bombay Flying Club, Mumbaiabout ₹34,56,000ReportedThe club's own fee fields are blank, so this has never been seen on the operator's own page.
Orient Flights Aviation AcademyNot publishedon the academy's own site, checked 15 June 2026The current price sits behind an enquiry form. Note the geography too: the flying happens at Mysuru and Kurnool, not at the base people still name for it.

What sits on top of every fee here

Accommodation and meals, unless the school states otherwise. Both initial medicals at ₹8,000 to ₹25,000Reported. The DGCA papers at ₹2,500Published, the radio telephony test, and the licence issue, which students usually budget together at ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000Reported. Then the type rating, which is on our type rating cost page and is the largest of these by a wide margin.

What is not published

Live operator-published fees for several of the schools above are Not publishedon the school's own site, checked 15 June 2026, which is why their rows carry aggregator figures with the label saying so. Rupee amounts of tax on tuition are Not publishedon any fee sheet, checked 15 June 2026. And the standalone licence-issue fee is Not publishedon any open government page, checked 15 June 2026, which is why students budget it inside a bundle rather than as a line.

Common questions

How much is a CPL course in India?

The market clusters at 45 to 55 lakh for the licence alone, with the full band running from about 35 lakh at the cheap and government end to about 70 lakh at the premium end. All of those are Reported bands rather than one published price.

Are government flying schools really cheaper?

Substantially, on the sticker. The cheapest state route in our data is under half the private cluster. What a state club cannot promise is availability and pace: aircraft serviceability and slot waits are the real cost there, and they are not priced.

Does a CPL fee include the type rating?

No, and this is the single most expensive misunderstanding in Indian pilot training. Every figure on this page is licence only. The type rating that makes you employable is a separate purchase afterwards.

Why do you not publish a fee for some schools?

Because they publish none themselves and we have not found a source we would stand behind. We say not published, with the date we checked, rather than repeating a number we cannot trace.

Is GST included in these fees?

Rarely, and never quantified. Where a school quotes plus applicable taxes we mark the tax Undisclosed, because inferring a rate and printing a rupee amount would turn our arithmetic into somebody else's price.
